Saying Goodbye to Edisha Atim

It is with a heavy heart and sad feelings that we grieve the death of Edisha Atim, our colleague in South Sudan that with her precious contribution brought back education and relief into the lives of children suffering from the conflict. Edisha Atim has been working with us since June 2014 and all COSV staff, COSV team in South Sudan, partners and communities will remember her as a great person and truly a dedicated professional.

We would like to share the words of Peter Claver Olore, COSV South Sudan Country Coordinator, to express our deep sorrow for the painful loss of Edisha.

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched, but are felt in the heart. The death of Edisha Atim, a great staff in COSV South Sudan, has punched a deep hole in our hearts and at our work in COSV. The most authentic thing about Edisha was her capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than her suffering. She faced the truest tests of integrity – the refusal to be compromised – as Chinua Achebe stated.  Personally, I learnt a lot from her.

Today 20th July the commissioner of Ayod was informed about the loss of the Education Coordinator for COSV, always known as the “Queen”, who in 2014 helped to rejuvenate formal learning (education) in Ayod area after the crisis of the war that broke out in 2013 Dec in South Sudan. The local people all felt sad and were passing their heartfelt condolence to family, friends and all relatives.

The world will live to remember you, Edisha. An African proverb says, “Everybody has been young before but not everybody has been old before”. We thank GOD for your life. We believe you are in a Holy place among the saints you believed in.  R.I.P Edisha”.
