It was to make a contribution to the new postcolonial Zimbabwe, distressed by the lack of qualified personnel, that COSV, in 1980, began its activities in the health care field. In the mid-2000s, we had to deal with emergency situations, famine, extreme poverty caused by a severe economic crisis that hit the country, in conjunction with a serious spread of AIDS. Today, a strong and organized civil society requires us to work alongside citizens associations involved in the defense of democracy and human rights.
