Diversity among cultures is something to enhance, not to be scared of.
It is a resource, an enrichment for everyone.
That is why in Macedonia, were ethnic-based discrimination is still deep-seated, we work with local communities – and, in particular, with multi-ethnic municipalities – by encouraging inclusion and inter-communitarian relations.
With support of the European Union, through “Joint Forces for Common Interests!” project, we promote innovative actions such as the “Community Forums”, network-sharing moments among local authorities and civil society to identify common needs and interests.
The Community Forum held the last November 7th in the Municipality of Delcevo, was the first in a set of four, to promote the project and identify fields of common interests in the above-mentioned municipality. Through the process of forums will be identified organizations that will compete for small sub-grant project that comes out from the common interests awarded with sub-grant amount from 3000 – 6000 EURO.
The president of the City Council Mr. Dragan Manevski and a representative of the local organisation KHAM spoke at the event stressing how essential is cooperation between civil society and local government to an inclusive and durable development.
Many local media took part in the event: COSV Balkans Country Representative and Project Manager Goce Bogoevski spoke to Kanal Plus Телевизија microphones, to talk about “Joint Forces for Common Interest!” and potential of the sub-granting system, highlighting possible spaces for common interest in Delcevo Municipality.
