We will respond to emergency nutritional needs in Ayod County through the prevention, screening and treatment of acute malnutrition including severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and moderate acute malnutrition (MAM); services will focus on children under five years of age, pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and other vulnerable persons to reduce morbidity and mortality due to malnutrition.
Children will be discharged from supplemental feeding centers when they have regained weight on at least two consecutive visits. In contrast, children who have not gained weight, lost weight, or develop medical complications will be referred to inpatient (SC) or outpatient treatment (OTP) facilities.
Awareness campaigns will be continuous to inform on nutrition, hygiene and health practices. Health staff will be also trained to strengthen the capacity to identify acute malnutrition and make necessary referrals.
