The Orphanage of Matola was founded in the 60s, and during the conflict it become a war orphans shelter. Today it’s still a reference point in the South of the Country for children abandoned due to their disabilities, aged between 4 and 32yo and with different diseases.
Connect was established to strengthen the services offered by the center and to support the integration of disable people. Following the national guidelines that aim at implementing effective actions to support marginalized population, especially with physical or mental illnesses, this project will promote disable people self-determination in order to reduce their social dependency and to contribute to the development of a new positive vision of disabilities.
The center will be provided with the necessary equipment to implement daily activities, for basic needs (clothes, launderette, kitchen), for education and vocational trainings and for playing moments.
