The presence of COSV in Somalia begun in 1981, it intensified in 1994 when, due to the fall of the Siad Barre regime and the consequent absence of a government, it was possible for international organizations and agencies (included NGOs) to have access in the country to support people affected by civil war. This war has never ended and together with famine and plagues, has kept the population extremely vulnerable. Schools, dispensaries, hospitals, wells, food and medicine distribution…tens of projects that have constantly ensured the subsistence of entire districts populations.
