“At present, the tourism sector contributes only to the 2.3% of Mozambique’s gross domestic product. A percentage that challenges us all, because our Country has a huge tourist potential and, in our government action, it is considered a priority: just look at the beauty, riches and conservation areas in Mozambique. In order for the Country to become a point of reference in the tourism market, we must continue to invest nationally”.
Those were the words of the Prime Minister of Mozambique – Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, that made local tourism the focal point for the most recent development plans of the Country.
A choice welcomed and carried out by the INATUR – the National Tourism Institute – that for the sixth consecutive year organized the International Tourism Fair in Maputo, FIKANI, that will be held from this November 22nd to 24th.
Panels, stands, expositions, gastronomy: a meeting occasion for businesses and institutions, to give new incentives to investments and partnerships between public and private sector, for the promotion of geographic and cultural riches of Mozambique.
In the framework of the project “Strengthening of financial sustainability and biodiversity of Gilé National Reserve – Mozambique”, funded by the European Union, COSV is supporting the participation to the FAIR of The Provincial Direction of Tourism of Zambezia, aiming at offering to the guests a new model of sustainable eco-tourism, in one of the most precious regions of the Country.
The visitors of the stand will have the chance to attend the official launch of the spot “National Reserve of Gilé: an heritage to discover and protect” (here the spot). It offers a visual narration of the beauties of the Reserve, heart of the Province, where day by day the partners of the Project work alongside communities, to protect biodiversity.
The collaboration among municipalities and local management groups, researchers, Reserve operators and communities made possible the introduction of innovative tools and sustainable practices, protecting Zambezian ecosystem and enhancing its infrastructures.
We want the world to know the beauties of Zambezia, that is open to sustainable tourism and investments, that wants to show its value, to invite people to discovery.
