The new European Ambassador to Zimbabwe, H.E. Philippe Van Damme, within his program of visits to the EU-funded projects, met together with COSV team the farmers of Hwange, who we have worked with in the Food Security project just ended.
The Ambassador, accompanied by Severin Mellac, the focal person for environment and energy at the EU Delegation to Zimbabwe, visited Chentali where there’s one of the irrigation schemes implemented by the project and where we built a sales structure to support the commercialization of products of farmers. The meeting was also attended by representatives of Lubancho, partner in the project, and Agritex.
The Ambassador expressed his satisfaction on this field visit, appreciating the quality of the work done. The opportunity to meet the producers was also, according to the Ambassador, useful to better understand the needs of rural communities in the country.
Now that the project is completed, we are pleased to receive the Ambassador impression on the sustainability of this project, that has seen our involvement and commitment in the past five years. After his visit, the Ambassador said to be “confident in the capacity of the community and local authorities involved.”
