The project dealt with an integrated approach to the waste management issue, involving selected local municipalities engaged in the management of the garbage collection, the treatment of the urban waste and the sensitization campaigns for the local population.
The project helped the communities to approach the problem or recycling waste step by step, from the building of a conscious information to the implementation of adequate and sustainable technologies. All the components of the community (private companies, schools, citizens, municipalities, etc.) have been involved and trained to improve the system of separated garbage collection. In the meanwhile technical support and assistance has been provided to the Waste Managemrnt Units of the three identified municipalities.
A big effort has been put in place to improve the management capabilities of the municpalities in order to provide the skills needed to give sustainability to this service in the future.
